Clear directions and practice opportunities encourage proper letter formation, leading to improved writing confidence and clarity.Page 2 – My Words – This page contains 8 words beginning with the targeted letter. The words are provided with a child-friendly clip art for word association. Students are also asked to fill in the missing letters using a model.Page 3 – Letter Recognition – This page asked students to find letters among similarly-shaped letters. Students are also asked to find letters in text by finding the individual letters in a provided sentence. Students are not expected to read the sentences independently, but they are just asked to circle and color all the designated letters in the sentence.Page 4 – Starts with – Students are given eight pictures with 3 beginning letter options. Students will use letters in that lesson and previously taught lessons.Page 5 – Trace, Color, Write – Students are provided with 3 images and tracing lines. Students will trace the lines and color the picture. Then using a provided model, students will write the missing letters and write the word independently.Page 6 – Sentence Writing with Hidden Pictures – Students will color two squares. One is a grid pattern to create a hidden picture beginning with the targeted letter. The other is a “stain-glass” square to create the uppercase and lowercase targeted letter. Using the grid, students will trace a modeled sentence. Then, students will copy the sentence independently. Finally, students will draw another picture starting with the target letter and write a new sentence. They are directed to use the “My Words” page to copy a word for the sentence.Finally, in a bonus section, students will use their letter/sound knowledge to build words. They will write the beginning letters for each of three words, then write the whole word to match the provided picture.This workbook not only helps children identify and write letters but also encourages them to create words and form sentences.
